The Story behind Gringas

We met in 2017, and traveled together until deciding to make home here in Magical Mangawhai. However, one thing was missing in our little town– Mexican food! With Maggie’s Texan background, and Deena’s passion for flavours, we decided to open Gringas food truck to share our love of Tex-Mex style food. After nearly 4 years in our beloved food truck, in 2021, we decided to take the plunge and open a restaurant! We now offer our delicious margaritas, cocktails, beer, and wine, alongside our new and improved menu. With one of the largest tequila offerings in New Zealand, we’re sure you’ll find something to satisfy!

We couldn’t be more thankful for the support over the years, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for Gringas!
